AT016: Amy Thai, Suspense, 2025
‘Suspense’ captures the moment when an orchid's petals reach toward light, stretching into empty space with elegant urgency. The velvet-like surface of the transparent, slightly sandblasted glass embodies both the fragility and resilience of these botanical forms in their perpetual state of becoming. The title evokes multiple layers of suspension: the physical extension of the petals, the emotional weight of anticipation, and the fleeting instant between growth and stillness. Like the orchid that orients itself toward an unseen source, the sculpture explores themes of faith in the invisible – those times when we must venture into uncertainty, trusting in what we cannot yet see.
