Between Worlds 2026

"Between Worlds" is cast in the round: no fixed front, no single reading. From one angle, pure abstraction, twisting ribbons of bronze folding through negative space. Move around the work and two figures emerge: limbs, torsos, the curve of a shoulder, then dissolve again. The forms draw from nature, its flux and its transience. The figures do not merge. They interlock, each retaining its own momentum. The patina shifts from gold to deep green. Two figures momentarily held together by the place where they touch.

The work marks Thai's first work in bronze. It makes its debut at the 24th annual SWELL Sculpture Festival which runs from September 11 to September 20, 2026, transforming the southern Gold Coast into Queensland's largest open-air gallery.
