Barovier&Toso ARTE announces the opening of a new exhibition space at Palazzo Barovier&Toso on the island of Murano, Venice. The inaugural exhibition, ‘Glass Art in Dialogue / Arte del vetro in dialogo’, fully reflects the gallery’s mission to promote glass as an autonomous medium of expression in the context of contemporary art.

The exhibition features artists Marija Jaensch and Amy Thai. Both were involved in the collective tribute that Fondazione Barovier&Toso dedicated to Venice and its natural environment during the 60th International Art Exhibition of the Venice Biennale: the exhibition ‘H2O Venezia: Diari d’acqua / Water Diaries’.

For this occasion, Jaensch and Thai have worked with glass for the first time, engaging with Murano’s historical legacy. Through close collaboration with master glassmakers, the artists have become familiar with this new material, successfully translating their personal artistic vision into it. The exhibition creates an intimate dialogue between theglass works created through this experience, the pieces previously shown in ‘H2O Venezia: Diari d’acqua / Water Diaries’, and a series of other works, generating a dynamic interplay between different stylistic approaches alternating glass, stone, and textiles.

The exhibition ‘Glass Art in Dialogue / Arte del vetro in dialogo’ offers both a privileged approach to the medium of glass and an intimate look at the unique experience of two extraordinary artists discovering the ancient traditions of Murano, which Barovier&Toso ARTE transforms into marvellous visions.

The exhibition will be open to the public from 13 February to 8 June 2025.
